Application of Java

According to Sun, 3 billion devices run on Java. There are many devices where java is currently used. Some of them are given below,


  • Enterprise application such as banking application
  • Web Applications such as irctc.co.in and many more. 
  • Desktop applications like antivirus, media player, etc.
  • Smart card
  • Mobile
  • Mobile apps
  • Games
  • Robotics etc.
Types of Java Applications
There are mainly 4 types of applications that can be created using java programming.
  1. Standalone Applications
  2. Web Application
  3. Enterprise Application
  4. Mobile application
Standalone applications are also known as window-based applications or desktop applications.
AWT and Swing are used in Java for creating standalone applications.

An application that runs on the server-side and generates a dynamic web page is called a web application.
Servlet, JSP, Spring etc are used for making web applications.
